H.S.E evaluation of subcontractors and strategic suppliers

Sanofi-aventis is committed to a high level of excellence in all of its entities. Full compliance with H.S.E rules has become a factor in achieving excellence.

Taking into account H.S.E issues in our relationships with subcontractors and strategic suppliers will be accomplished by:

in a comprehensive list, identifying all our subcontractors and strategic suppliers (database);
in contracts for outsourced work, including an H.S.E clause defining the Group’s requirements on this matter;
when contracts are signed, providing subcontractors with all the H.S.E information in our possession relating to the concerned products and processes;
conducting H.S.E validation assessments for strategic subcontractors before finalizing contracts;
conducting follow-up H.S.E assessments of subcontractors;
conducting H.S.E follow-up assessments of strategic suppliers.

Sanofi-aventis defines as strategic suppliers:

Any supplier from whom the Group buys synthesis intermediates or active ingredients that are key elements in the manufacture of our strategic products and specialties.
Any supplier whose sales turnover and/or activity with the Group are significant and whose defects or problems would cause damage to Group businesses.
