Understanding disability at the local level

Gathering information about disability in each country – legal requirements, obligations, the environment

Sanofi-aventis has distributed a questionnaire to all subsidiaries in order to collect information about measures concerning disability at the local level.  

Implementation plan

  • Questionnaires returned in April – May 2007
  • Survey conclusions expected in December 2007

Raising awareness about disability

Initiatives to promote employee awareness and understanding and encourage a change in attitude

Sanofi-aventis would like to promote better understanding among employees so they will more easily accept a colleague with disability. Meetings and other events are organized on the sites. 
For example, in Hungary, the MOZAIK Program is designed for the children of employees. Initiatives are also underway in Brazil and Japan.

Awareness-building and HR training

Motivation and the positive points of integration – understanding the barriers to integration

To encourage the integration of disabled employees, the Group organizes training sessions for HR and recruiting agents.

  • In 2007 and 2008 among HR teams in France, all sectors combined

Having the tools to do the job

Sanofi-aventis ensures that both documents and the Group's know-how are made available to HR employees, as well as providing contacts on the topic of disability. 
A binder entitled "Guide Pratique de la Mission Handicap" (only available in French) will be distributed in France in the Fall of 2007.   

Maintaining employment

Identify and improve job retention solutions for employees who are faced with a handicap

The Group would like to find improved ways to address employee needs, in particular because disabled workers are, on average, older than other employees. 
A document listing the "10 Steps to Maintaining Employment" presents a case study and HR information on this subject. It will be distributed in the Fall of 2007.
